The Hope we find in Jesus is the Hope that He himself will one day come back to us and we will go where we truly belong - in heaven with Him. The world tells us to believe in people, our circumstances, science, etc. However, true Hope was sent to us thousands of years ago so we could live every day in confidence that the best is yet to come. I don’t mean the best is yet to come on this Earth. That is what people have come to believe in Christian circles. What I mean is that the best is yet to come when we get to see Jesus face to face, our ultimate destination. All we will take with us when we meet him is ourselves. Therefore, in this advent season, I want to remind you to clean your heart and press pause on all the distractions that take you away from Him.
Christmas is not about presents, pictures with Santa, advent calendars, elves on the shelf, or going to look at lights at the Botanical Garden. Christmas is about Jesus, and if we forget about that, we have failed to celebrate Jesus as the King He is, who came to bring us everlasting life and hope.
Our only way to find hope is to be reminded of all the promises Isaiah foretold and God fulfilled in the coming of Christ. I want to remind you that God is faithful, good, and trustworthy. This life we live is but a speck of our life everlasting with God. Our hope cannot be on people’s promises, change of behavior, healing, etc. Our hope has to stay on Jesus. Only then will we be filled with hope, as our strength is renewed through Him.
Our hope is not dependent on anyone because The One already came to instill in us hopeful hearts to continue this race set before us and arrive at our ultimate calling, Jesus. I pray in this season that we put our hope in Jesus.
Isaiah 40:31: “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength”
